What Is Blu Ray And What Can It Do For Me?

Have you heard a blu ray? It's the new technology that everyone is talking about super clear video pictures. It really is the new wave of the 21st century. It looks pretty much like a regular DVD to one of the benefits is its huge storage capacity.

Due to its huge storage space on the disc itself, this means that much more data can be stored which in terms means that clearer movies, music, mp3 etc can be achieved. Another great advantage of Blu-Ray is that, you can store your important data you have on your hard disk into Blu-Ray. This prevents you the headache of trying to retrieve your data when your hard disk crashes. Blu-Ray can be a good choice or alternative for backing-up of your important data.

I believe nowadays, hard disk storage capacity is huge, commonly used is between 120GB to 500GB. Blu-Ray discs have 25GB - 50GB storage space. Lets say you have a 250GB hard disk, you only need 5 Blu-Ray discs as compare to using about 53 DVD-R.

Fancy new DVD players offer Blu-Ray capabilities, and rental stores from Blockbuster to your local supermarket video rental section are carrying these disks to check out (at a slight price premium, of course).

But what does blu ray compatibility mean? Well, blu ray is high-definition movies. If you have a high-definition television than having a blu ray player makes the video quality exceptionally clear. That means that the investment in one of these players really is dependent on the quality of your television.

So now what is HD? Well HD has to do with the amount of pixels and a screen. The average television screen has about 400,000 pixels. HD screens have over 2 million pixels. By having more pixels, you can get a much sharper image.

Long story made short, you could set 4 standard, televisions side-by-side, and put together, they still wouldn't show as many pixels of the movie as one Blu-Ray capable television.

So now you see what a blu ray disc player is and what the technology can do. If you are a big enthusiast and love to watch video and our big guns clarity, this may be something that works for you. But the thing you need to remember is it won't matter if you have a blue Ray disc player if you do not have a high quality or HDTV. Make sure that your entire video system supports clean and clear quality.
